The Ideal Day for a Digital Writer

Let’s dive into something a bit deeper today.

A couple of weeks ago, while reading Francis Nayan's newsletter, I stumbled upon the concept of the "ideal day," and it truly resonated with me. I've explored and documented my thoughts in my journal before—though they evolve with each entry, reflecting my personal growth—but I’ve never published them online.

Well, maybe its about time i show them the light, coz why not?

But before I share my vision of the ideal day, let’s take a moment to break down the reality of my current routine.

...working in my 9-5 job.

I wake up bright and early at 4:30 AM. The first 30 minutes are dedicated to essential maintenance: stretching, hydrating, making my bed, expressing gratitude, and spending about 10 minutes reading to jumpstart my mind.

Next, I sit at my makeshift desk, fully focused on writing for a solid 90 minutes, crafting everything from threads to emails to tweets.

Around 6:30 AM to 7:00 AM, I publish my work online, and then it’s off to my day job until 6:00 PM. During my breaks at work, I prioritize networking and growing my audience on X—commenting and engaging under my posts and DMs.

On the walk home, I sometimes plug into a motivational podcast featuring inspiring creators.

Once I’m home, I do my basic chores.

Cooking, cleaning and shower.

Then I sit down to read and study my craft for atleast 30 minutes. I am a practicing copywriter so that's a given. Then I enjoy my supper and head to a 10-minute walk.

When I get back, I revise the piece I wrote in the morning, which usually takes about 30 minutes. Then, I grab my journal to reflect on the day, outline my to-do list for tomorrow, and sketch out my writing plan for the morning.

I’m in bed by 10:00 PM.

**In Summary:**

- I write and publish in the morning.

- I network and grow my audience during the day.

- I study copywriting, edit, and outline in the evening.

I may not hit every goal perfectly, but the above bulleted points are my non-negotiables. When I accomplish these, I consider the day a win, plain and simple.

Now, let me share my vision for my Ideal Day!

I can’t help but feel exhilarated as I write this. The thrill of envisioning this day is unmatched.

Here’s what it looks like:

I wake up naturally at 5:00 AM—no alarm needed. I start my day with maintenance tasks: stretching, making my bed, hydrating, taking a cold shower, and reading to awaken my mind.

Then I settle down for an undisturbed 90 minutes of writing, followed by a refreshing 30-minute walk.

Afterward, I whip up a healthy breakfast and dive into a focused 3-4 hour work session—publishing content and building exciting projects for my writing business and clients.

Next, I hit the gym for at least 90 minutes, followed by logging into social media—mainly X (Twitter) to engage with my audience.

After a shower, I enjoy lunch, a power nap, and another contemplative walk. I spend an hour on admin tasks before my afternoons open up for spontaneity.

This is where the fun begins!

I can spend my time chilling with friends, watching a movie with my girlfriend, trying out new recipes, diving into an interesting book, exploring art galleries, meditating, or even learning new skills. The possibilities are endless, and that’s the beauty of this time until I wind down for the night by 9:30 PM.

And here’s the phenomenal part:

I’m closer to this ideal day than I might have imagined. With the dedication I’m pouring into my exit plan, I’m around six months away from achieving it.

It feels surreal.

Sure, this vision may evolve, but reminiscing about it brings me joy—and that was the whole point of sharing this.

One day at a time fam!

Hope you enjoyed reading it as much as I did writing it.

That’s a wrap!

**P.S**

This post was inspired by Francis Nayan on X, and I hope it encourages you to think about your own ideal day. If you have a one already, I’d love to hear about it!
